Porippoonguruvi in Tamil (பொரிபூங்குருவி)
Resident. Male black and white, with white supercilium and wing bars, and yellow bill. Female has buff supercilium and wing bars, and scaled underparts. Juvenile has buff streaking on mantle and breast. Open broadleaved forest and secondary growth.
