Oodha Thenchittu in Tamil (ஊதா தேன்சிட்டு)
Widespread resident. Male mettalic purple. Female has uniform yellowish underparts, with faint supercilium and darker mask (some greyer and whiter). Call is a buzzing zit and high pitched, wheezy swee. Open deciduous forest and gardens.
