Saambal Iruvaayan in Tamil (சாம்பல் இருவாயன்)
Widespread resident. Prominent black casque and extensive black at base of bill. Paler sandy brownish grey upperparts than Malabar grey, with longer tail that has dark subterminal band and elongated central feathers. Has white trailing edge to wings. Female similar to male, but with smaller bill and casque. Open forest and wooded areas with fruiting trees.
