Widespread resident. Fine streaking on brown head and breast, brown throat, orange circum orbital skin and bill (while breeding) and white spotted wing coverts. Streaking almost absent on belly and flanks. Call is a monotonous kutroo,kutroo,kutroo or kutruk,kutruk,kutruk. Forest, wooded areas and trees near habitation.
